In order to apply for a permit to study in Canada, you need to first obtain a letter of acceptance to a study program at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). A DLI is a learning institution authorized by a province or a territory to offer education to international students. If you are an international student planning to apply to a program of study, first ensure that the school of your choice is on the list of Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs). Please note that all primary and secondary schools in Canada are DLIs. 

In order to qualify as a self–employed person, you must have two years of relevant experience and show that you intend to become self–employed in Canada.
